location matters: setting the scene for your senior story

Thoughtful Locations Make A Difference

Spoiler alert: The happier and more relaxed your teen FEELS during their photoshoot, the better the photos. Everything else — wardrobe, posing, lighting — comes in a distant second. That’s why the locations we choose are not just a backdrop; they are a secret little confidence booster : )

Senior Year Is a Big Deal (like, “pass-the-tissues” big)

As a mom of a soon-to-be-graduate, you already know senior year is basically a twelve-month roller-coaster of firsts, lasts, and how-is-my-baby-this-grown-up moments.

A senior portrait session allows us to document this important chapter -- but the magic doesn’t happen because I have a fancy camera.

It happens because your child feels seen, understood, and comfortable enough to be 100% themselves.

Bayla is a water polo and swimming powerhouse. It only made sense to tell this chapter of her graduation story at (and in) the pool. She was completely relaxed and in her element!

The Secret Sauce? The Right Setting

So how do we do that?  Well, it begins with making sure we are taking pictures in the RIGHT place.

Think of location not as a backdrop, but as a scene in their story. The right one can flip the switch from nervous to natural in moments. It’s about putting your teen in an environment that feels familiar, empowering, and fun — somewhere they can relax and just be themselves.

When they’re comfortable, the confidence follows, and from there… the beautiful, NATURAL photos you are hoping for.

AJ is a GIANT sports car fan. Not only were we able to gain access to a local race track for a completely unique location, but he was able to include a Ferrari in his photos. So cool! He definitely looked like he belonged there and gave me some of the most natural smiles of the day.

Why it Works

Of course, a pretty background is nice. Good light is very important.

But a PERSONAL location gives your child something to connect with. Something that brings out that spark.

Years from now, when you look back at these photos, the setting will instantly transport you to who they were and what they loved in this once-in-a-lifetime chapter.

Hockey has been a HUGE part of Calum's childhood and high school career. We were lucky enough to tell his story inside his home locker room. Surrounded by his goalie gear and his nameplate overhead... he looked right at home.

Building A Session for THEM

No two seniors are the same, so no two sessions should be either.

We start with a quick discussion — about what they love, where they feel most like themselves, and what kind of story you want to tell with these pictures.

Then we work together to design a session that’s custom from start to finish.

Begin Their Story

🤎  If you already have a location in mind — amazing. If not? I’ve got plenty of ideas and would love to brainstorm with you.

Let’s design a session that fits them perfectly — a session that’s relaxed, real, and full of moments you’ll want to hold onto forever.
